Hi - does anyone know of a good area to take teenagers to shop - somewhere that is relatively inexpensive?
|||
The lower end of Rue St Denis and around Les Halles seems to have nothing but teenage style clothing /shoes- very cheap. It also has some XXX rated shops and %26#39;peep shows%26#39; too - just so you are aware.
|||
Les Halles shopping Center has teen clothing at H %26amp; M , Zaras, and Go Sport. Also the BHV has good prices too.
There are Gap store and small stores in the 5 e that my teens liked to look and buy at.

I asked this same question a couple of months ago and here are the two replies I received: rue du Commerce and rue Etienne Marcel. Also, I happen to know that teens love the stuff at any Monoprix. They have inexpensive cosmetics and clothing. Good luck!

When I have traveled to Paris with high school students, they have always loved shopping on the rue du Faubourg St Antoine off the Bastille.
|||
The main street on Ile St. Louis has a number of shops with items of interest to teens but also to their elders. prices are reasonable and items are good quality and not just tourist stuff. You can have lunch at nice cafes and great ice cream.

Discover - I found the prices at BHV to be rather high compared to prices that I tend to find in the States. There%26#39;s nothing like shopping in the U.S.A. for bargains, IMO.

Shosey:
I think it depends on what you are looking for. For sure most things are much cheaper in the USA just like you stated.
We did find a few things cheaper at BHV than Galleries and Primtemps.
I did like H %26amp; M for teen clothes and the shops on the main rue going up from the Fountain Saint Michel on the opposite side of the street.
I bought baby clothes this last time and only a few teen items this time.
When is the big event? If you don%26#39;t mind me asking? Can%26#39;t wait to hear about it.

On Rue du Rivoli, right behind the now closed Samaratine Department store there is a huge ETAM shop, 4 or 5 stories high, which sells not only underwear but cute things to wear-the sort of clothing young people like AND it is affordable.
Also, if you get off of metro line 1 at the St Paul exit and head up Rue du Rivoli there towards Hotel de Ville (left and across the street) you will pass many shops selling less expensive clothing. It will take you towards Pompidou, another haven for young people.

Discover - The wedding is in August, and I just ordered my dress on Thursday.

If your %26quot;teen%26#39;s money%26quot; is really YOUR money, you may want to try what many Parisians do when they shop for growing kids, go to the %26quot;flea market%26quot; at Place de la Porte de Montreuil. It%26#39;s not a flea market in the American sense, it%26#39;s a huge outdoor bazaar with hundreds of clothing and novelty vendors. It offers everything from designer knock-offs to medium-quality clothing for pennies on the dollar compared to central Paris.
I don%26#39;t think the quality is any lower than most of what%26#39;s offered at any C%26amp;A store in central Paris. It%26#39;s exciting and fun and your teens will probably love it unless they%26#39;re accustomed to shopping exclusively at Nordstroms.
Sat, Sun, Mon only
Metro: Porte de Montreuil
