la baume/la palmeraie

hi

I have another question about this campsite. Is it within walking distance to a small town or is there somewhere we can walk to in the evenings with the kids in their prams for a change of scenery.

thanks

Sadly, the site is slightly isolated. You can leave the site and turn right and head towards Frejus (but you will have a long walk). There is a red concrete mosque just down the road as something different however not much to keep your children interested. On the same road towards Frejus there are a few small collections of shops/pizza places but be careful as I don%26#39;t recall any pavements along the way.

Hope this helps.

Hi again - Mrs %26#39;Widley Traveller%26#39; has suggested I add to my previous post that there is quite a lot of variety and activities to do on the site itself. We certainly wandered around the whole La Baume/La Palmeraie site on several evenings and its often enough for the children just to see other children playing as you walk/cycle around without the need to go off site. Apart from the pools there is some evening entertainment + childrens playground, table tennis, skateboard ramp (need to take helmet + pads to use it though), petanque, climbing wall, %26#39;beach%26#39; volleyball, basketball, 5-a-side football and tennis courts. They also had a travelling circus visit each week we there in August last year as well.

Also if you turn left out of the site approx 200yds just off the island there is a vineyard where you can try the wine and then buy. Try it lots of holidaymakers really enjoy it.

There is also a bus stop outside the site gate and you can get into Frejus that way.

along the roads? No. It will wear you out. But I believe a path runs through forest opposite to another place which is a zoo, but unlikely to be open in evenings. No buses after 6.00pm.but you can buy bulk tickets in wads of 10 at the town bus office, and share them out between you all. The way to get to st. raphael beach, very nice, buses plenty of them from Frejus bus stn.Buses from site will connect.

Hi, I don%26#39;t know if you have already booked La Baume but if you haven%26#39;t, do consider other sites. We stayed a couple of years ago and hated it. In fact, we moved to another site after a few days.

Why? Well the pitch for our mobile home was squeezed between a corner of a road and a brick wall with practically no outside area at all, and was infested with ants. Never mind, we thought, the kids will love the pools, etc. Unfortunately, there was one pool which was constructed out of rough blue concrete and both my kids scraped their feet %26amp; legs to blazes in no time at all. We were moved to Douce Quietude in St Raphael and it was absolute heaven compared to La Baume. In fact, we have returned there several times since!
