Le Comptoir

Through my contact in Paris, I tried to book this place the week of February 19. No luck. They are fully booked.

Anyone have any alternate suggestions? I%26#39;m looking for something trendy, about 40 euros per person, good food.

FISH, La Boissonnerie. It is not far from the Comptoir. The food is excellent, the crowd vivacious and the menu is at 34E.

It is very popular with visitors to Paris, so I rarely recommend it, but you like meeting interesting people from across the globe (last week I was there and sat between Parisians, a Quebecois, an Indian, an Armenian and across from a Japanese couple). I like being alone with my man and did not particularly enjoy all the introductions from our neighbors, but it would have been great if we%26#39;d been with friends. Again, the food is really, really outstanding.

Also, Mon Vieil Ami is about that price. Rather trendy, on the Ile St. Louis.

I really enjoy Le P%26#39;tit Troquet in the 7th. Not necessarily trendy, but a Bib Gourmand with consistently excellent food and wonderful service.

Another: Atelier Maitre Albert, although this is a bit more than 40 euros

Fish is one of my favs. The crowd vivacious with some rather interesting ex-pats/regulars, including the bartender. And the food has always been super and the wine list....to die for. But should be as is tied to La Derniere Goutte. We have eaten there each of our trips and is on for our stay this March. ANd have never been disappointed.

Hi,

We were told that they are only booking hotel guests--no outsiders can reserve.

Will look for reviews of where you do go. We won%26#39;t be in Paris till September.
