Chamonix seems to be divided up into different regions. Right now the snow is clearly going to be best high up, but where are the best slopes, especially for snowboarders? We%26#39;re all high level (black runs welcome) kind of people.
Appreciate your thoughts.

Without doubt the best and blackest are on Les Grands Montet in Argentiere.
here you ski the whole mountain, if you are good enough.
But all the other areas are great especially with the new snow.

Thanks RedZed, that%26#39;s what I was picking up. I%26#39;ll be there on Friday. If you are based there, I could be interested in hiring a guide. I guess your apartment is booked this Friday to Monday? (I saw some of your other posts) There are 4 of us.

Yep sorry it is booked.
But try www.grand-roc.com they have others in our building.
40meters from the lifts at Les Grands Montet.

Hi bcn4life,
We were there 2 years ago when the snow was poor (too early in the season). Head to Argentierre!!!!!!!!! Avoid Le Houche! They had marked runs open when a run didn%26#39;t even have snow cover from mid way to the bottom. We had to take our skis/boards off and walk down the mountain. We hassled to get our money back for that day skiing, and FINALLY succeeded. We ski but travelled with boarders and we all enjoyed Argentierre.
If you get a chance it%26#39;s worthwhile seeing the ice caves and the most spectacular view from the top of the Auige du Midi (I apologise for the spelling) cable car! It takes your breath away. The run from the cable car is %26quot;the run%26quot; to do, but you need a guide and the snow will need to be good. Not sure how it is for boarders though.
We%26#39;re heading to Austria in a few weeks and hope it pukes down in the meantime.

Argentiere, without any question, is best for good boarders. Head for the top of Les Grands Montets (might have to pay a bit extra) and you%26#39;ll see what I mean! Can%26#39;t beat it.
