Nice Itinerary

My husband and I will be in Nice for 4 days in May. This will be our first trip to France and the first segment. We arrive on the afternoon of May 11 so we plan on seeing a few sights in Nice that day. We have decided we would like to do day trips to Menton, Eze and VilleFranche. We don%26#39;t want to try to see too much, but just take it slow and really enjoy ourselves. Can we see Menton %26amp; VilleFranche on the same day and would Sunday be a good day for that? Restaurant recommendations would also be welcome. On Monday, we would like to go to Eze Village (via bus 112) and then spend the afternoon at Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild. I%26#39;m assuming we could reach this via from bus Eze Village. Tuesday would be our last full day so we would spend the day sightseeing in Nice. Please let me know what you think of this itinerary and suggestions on sights we shouldn%26#39;t miss.

You can see both Villefranche-sur-Mer and Menton on the same day as they are on the same train service from Nice but with only 4 days in Nice, I would not bother visiting both - yes, they are both beautiful towns but not really all that different to warrant spending precious time visiting both. There are Jean Cocteau monuments in both towns. Villefranche-sur-Mer is a pleasant 40 minute stroll from Nice and so can make a nice half-day trip (walk, or take the bus or train back into Nice).

Saint-Paul-de-Vence would make an excellent alternative to Menton - easily accessed by regular bus service from Nice and very different - a beautiful hill-town with great views and full of artists%26#39; studios.

Great value restaurants in Nice are:

Acchiardo, rue Droite

La Tapenade, rue Sainte-Réparate

La Table Alziari, rue François-Zanin

Le Lunel, Quai Lunel

Chez Davia, rue Grimaldi
