Metro vs Taxi in Paris

Bon jour, My time in Paris is very limited so could someone please tell me the best/quickest way to get from the Louvre to the Gare du Nord (GdN)? I will be pushing it to make the 20:45 EuroStar departure back to London. Also, si%26#39;l vous plaît, do know anything about the quick %26quot;Top Ten%26quot; tour of the Louvre and how to arrange it? Merci.

Quickest way IMO would be to walk the 500 meters back along the Seine (Quai de la Mégisserie) to CHÂTELET and take metro line 4 (direction Porte de Clignancourt) to Gare du Nord.

I hate relying on taxis when I am in a hurry and there is something that I MUST reach. You%26#39;ll never know about traffic jam, car crashes or whatever.

There is also the RER (regional express train) from Chatelet to Gare du Nord. RER trains are less frequent than metros but not by much, and it%26#39;s only one stop. You would need RER B direction Mitry-Claye or Aeroport CDG.

A top 10 of the Lo\ouvre would necessarily be a matter of personal taste. I expect a formal Top Ten Tour is designed more to be something to brag about rather than something that will really meet your preferences.

Take a look at Rick Steves%26#39; Paris book and also at his Europe 101, they might help you decide which works/artists are most important for you.

Most people would put the Mona Lisa right at the top, but I viewed it without crowds when it traveled to NYC, so I%26#39;m not willing to brave the hordes to see it again.

I%26#39;m sure that someone here on the forum will be able to advise as to a Louvre-specific guidebook that would be even more helpful, and I%26#39;m equally sure that there are numerous folks who are willing to let you in on their top 10s.

BTW - I agree about the Metro/RER - traffic in Paris can compete with traffic anywhere in the world - don%26#39;t rely on a taxi when you%26#39;re in a hurry unless it%26#39;s 3AM.

Bon voyage.
