I decided to stay in the marais area. these are the two hotels between I have to choose. Bretonnerie has a charming room for 140euro and caron de beaumarchais has a frontside room for 150 euro. which would you choose (better rooms, better street??). Give me your advise please!

Here is a site where you can type in the address and view pictures of the street. Click on photos. http://www.pagesjaunes.fr
IMO either of these are nice hotels however I have stayed at neither. The rooms may be a bit better at Caron de Beaumarchais. Of the two streets Rue de Vielle Temple is the %26quot;busier%26quot; although as you can see from the pics quite nice with shops etc. The Bretonnerie is a smaller street and may be a bit quieter. They are so close to one another, you cannot go wrong with either. Both are good locations.

I agree that location-wise you cannot go wrong with either hotel.
But the Caron%26#39;s frontside rooms are the more desirable rooms in the hotel for space and light. The %26#39;charming%26#39; category rooms at the Bretonnerie are their standard rooms so they will be the smallest sized rooms available. As to comparing the room sizes between the two hotels they may be more or less the same; I%26#39;m not certain however.
If I had to choose I%26#39;d reserve the Caron%26#39;s frontside room as it%26#39;s just a 10 euro differential between the two rates.

paris 1204, would you prefer these hotels in the marais or maybe the ones in the latin quarter? my choise is leaning towards the caron in the marais! do you know if there is a carparking near the caron? thanx

We%26#39;ve stayed at Bretonnerie and loved it.
Their junior suites are perfect for families.

I have stayed in both though not all that recently. I liked them both but my definite preference would be for the Bretonnerie. I consider it one of the better run small hotels I have stayed in anywhere though these things are always a bit subjective.
I would always prefer to stay in the Marais rather than the Latin Quarter, if by LQ you mean the part of the 5th arrondissement more or less north of the Panthéon.
Secure parking is available in most areas of Paris but is also expensive. This site might help: www.vincipark.com

I%26#39;m not discriminatory towards staying in the Latin Quarter and would gladly stay there as much as the Marais. My other favorite areas to stay are in St. Germain and the Ile St. Louis which may be termed %26#39;touristy%26#39; by some as well. The way I see it is that if you are a visitor you are a tourist-same difference; you are not a local. Therefore, if many who prefer these areas are like myself then the area is indeed touristy. I may add that there are locals who are residents in these areas too. I find that the Marais is filled with tourists as well and it is still considered to be charming.

The Marais remains less touristy and, more partcularly, less focused on tourists than the northern parts of the 5th and 6th. It also has a different %26quot;vibe%26quot; than either of those areas, each of which is unique in its own way too. I prefer the atmosphere of the 4th. Others may like the 5th or 6th better. I have no problem with that. Unfortunately the marais too is bcoming more touristy with each passing year which is why for some time now I have preferred to stay elsewhere.
But yes indeed there are Parisians living in all three areas.

Why not make a reservation by phone and confirm it by fax with your CC number?
