Given that you%26#39;re posting this on the Calvi part of the Corsica forum I guess that%26#39;s where you%26#39;re aimed.

Try the St Erasme (http://www.hotel-st-erasme.com). It has a lovely family room with huge balcony area, a double room and a smallish twin room adjoining it. Around 10 mins walk down to town (15 mins back) and run by nice people.

We are also going to Corsica with 2 small children next summer. This hotel looks really nice. If we are first timers at Corsica is Calvi the place to stay?

Calvi is great for small children. There%26#39;s a lovely beach, and beach-train transport to lots of others at peak times. And there are lots of restaurants in Calvi that you can go to as a family.

Why not hire a car and go into the mountains at least one or two days? The mountains are really spectacular - but break up your journey a bit to avoid car-sickness, as the roads can be a bit tortuous! DTR

Would agree with all comments above and yes Calvi with small children is a good choice. We spent three lovely holidays there with our children then aged 1-5 years, beach is ideal (good sand for sandcastles, shallow warm water, lots of shade). Plenty of walks around town - some not so good with pushchairs though. You may need travel sickness pills if you go up in the mountains - wish we had provided them to our daughter aged 5 before we drove up there !!

Hi Lu J, Yes we would certainly recommend Calvi to visitors with young children. We have had many families with children ranging from 2 months upwards staying at our house (see www.holidaysincorsica.com ) and they have all commented on what a great choice it has been. The beach is particularly great because the sand is very fine and great for building sandcastles, and the water is lovely and clear, and very shallow and gently-shelving. Kids love the small train that runs along the coast as it looks like a bit like Thomas the Tank Engine, and I remember one young boy who was totally convinced that the citadel was a castle complete with dragons, princesses etc - and it doesn%26#39;t take much imagination to believe it!

Sorry should have said hello to love2travel2 aswell, and anyone else with young children who is thinking of visiting!

Thanks Casa Paradis - your house looks really nice, but we are only in Corsica for 5 days, and would like to stay at different places on the island.

So now we decided to go to Calvi for 3 days, we have thought about going to Porto Vecchio for the last two days.

We have a car with us, what should we see while in Calvi?

Thanks love2travel2! As you%26#39;re quite limited for time, you should spend a lazy day in Calvi itself, partly on the beach, walking up to the citadel and generally ambling around and soaking up the atmosphere. Another day you could take the train along the coast - there are some great beaches with restaurants, aswell as Algajola and Ile Rousse which are both well worth a visit. And for the third day? Perhaps a drive through some of the mountain villages, including stops at Pigna and Sant%26#39;Antonino (where they also have donkey rides up to the village which your children might like). Alternatively the Forest of Bonifatu where there are trails and you can swim in rockpools, or else if you feel like a longer drive then visit St Florent. I%26#39;m sure other people on this forum will have other suggestions for you too!
