Eurostar Window Seats

Hi, can you tell me whether you can actually reserve a window seat on Eurostar if you are travelling second class or is it just pot luck when you get there.

Hi Sudsi

The seats are allocated and you can ask for a window seat. My recollection is that the seat was allocated when you pick up your tickets. I picked mine up at Waterloo the day before the trip to avoid any delay on the day.

Seating is reserved on the Eurostar. Not sure how you request aisle/window when booking online. I%26#39;ve never really paid attention!

You can ask them directly via email. Otherwise, you could always arrive a few minutes early and ask them to change your seating. The trains are rarely full.

Hi Sudsi, I actually do like a window seat and I just asked for one when I went to pick up my ticket at Waterloo. Both times I had a return from London to Paris but just practise your French if you are picking up the tickets at Gare du Nord - there won%26#39;t be a problem.

The Eurostar staff is bilingual... no need to worry about asking for a window seat in French. They are also extremely accommodating.

Hi.

Bear in mind that sitting by the window on the Eurostar can be very draughty - last week there was cold air pouring out of the vents by the window on the way to Lille. Brrgh!

|||

Sounds like there was a problem with heating on that particular train. Its not like air is shoved in from outside at 300 km/hr. The cars are climate controlled.

Perhaps this will assit you when making EUROSTAR seat reservations...but requesting a window seat shouldn%26#39;t be a problem...provide the train isn%26#39;t nearly fully booked at the time.

Are you saying I could selected a seat when I booked? I did not see anything about that but then I was so excited to see I could pick my ticket up at station rather than pay that ridiculous handling fee I may have overlooked it.

but thanks for the link to seating selection. I will check it out and see if I can do it anyway.

Hi.

You can select window seats and rearward/forward facing seats at time of booking.

For climate controlled read freezing - it%26#39;s been cold on every Eurostar train I%26#39;ve been on, even at the height of summer when I once had to buy woolly socks in Paris for the return journey.There was cold air pumping out of the window vents on both legs of my journey last week as per usual, it%26#39;s just more noticeable in winter.
