We leave in a few days for our trip to Paris and one of the %26quot;musts%26quot; is to eat at Robuchon%26#39;s L%26#39;Atelier (my husband ate at Robuchon%26#39;s establishment in Vegas, now he wants to try the one in Paris). Some of the things we have read say that the restaurant does not take reservations and other things say it only takes reservs for lunch and the 6:30 dinner seating. So I gave the reservation thing a try this morning, and with my mangled high school french and the hostess%26#39;s %26quot;a little%26quot; English succeeded in making one! But in all my excitement to be communicating successfully with someone in Paris and getting these supposedly hard to come by reservations, I did not realize (until later today) that I made the reservation for our first night in Paris.
So here is my (first) question - was this a big mistake and should I try to change it? Our flight is due to arrive noon, and we will be staying in an apt. near the Pompidou. Will we be too jet lagged to really enjoy ourselves and the food, or (as my husband fears) will we be fast asleep at 6:30...
Next question, has anyone eaten at Carre des Feuillants recently? I am interested in trying to secure a reservation here, and did not see many comments about this establishment when I did a search.
Many thanks in advance.

Just my humble opinion, but for the price you will be paying for that meal you might want to change the reservations so you will be able to fully enjoy it. Also, last March my husband and I were able to walk right in and get seated around 10:00 one week night...so you could always try that too. Good luck!

thanks rynskie
Would it be fair to say these reservations are %26quot;not%26quot; so hard to come by, and/or we would be better off on a night later in our trip trying for a walk-in?
|||
I would definitely change the reservation to another evening. If you%26#39;re anything like me, your clock is all off that day and you really can%26#39;t enjoy such a long meal.
Why not do it on your way OUT of town, instead of on your way in? Like a final celebration!?
Have%26#39;t been to Carre but I know it%26#39;s a beautiful place and gets high reviews.

Les68-
Love the idea! Will try again today with my fractured French to change the reservation and move it to the end of our visit.

%26lt;%26lt;or we would be better off on a night later in our trip trying for a walk-in?%26gt;%26gt; If you really want to go there and you don%26#39;t mind eating at 6:30pm, then I%26#39;d really recommend those reservations.
The door to the restaurant can not be opened from the outside. If you don%26#39;t have reservations, and if the hostess, who has to open the door for you, does not think you have the %26quot;look%26quot; she is going for, you are not dining there that night, even if tables may be available. We saw this happen several times the evening that we dined there.

It appears you have your heart set on going to L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon, and if so, DO NOT click on the link below. It%26#39;s a review by someone that did not have such a good time at the establishment...

If this is TMI (Too Much Information), I do apologize...

merci to all
I have rebooked us for our last night in Paris as a celebratory ending (although I am trusting that we will have many %26quot;mini%26quot; celebrations along the way; I cannot wait to see the Eiffle Tower twinkling!) Not keen on eating at 6:30p, but better to have an %26quot;early%26quot; reservation than risk not having the opportunity to eat there at all.
And against my better judgment, I read the review offered...I view the comments with a huge shaker of salt b/c it was written one month after the place had opened, and now it%26#39;s been in business for a few years, during which time many outstanding reviews have been written, along with positive commentary from TA posters.
So we%26#39;re off in two days!
Many, many thanks to all of you who have posted advice that we have taken to heart and that I am sure will make our trip a great success. I look forward to posting a trip report about our many adventures.

Yes, please do post...L%26#39;Atelier Joel Robuchon is on my %26quot;next trip dining list%26quot;...
Have a marvelous trip!

I have eaten there and it is one of the more memorable meals in Paris. It was fourn years ago and I still remember the best shrimp I%26#39;ve ever had in my life (but one shrimp for 16 E is pretty much why I never went back). The eggplant caviar wa also incredible. I can%26#39;t remember the rest of the meal, we were two and ordered tapas style so there were several courses. The dessert was great, a cree brulee and they offerd us a coupe of fresh cherres that were absolutely divine.
Last month a good friend went there for lunch and felt it was the best lunch she%26#39;s had in Paris. Ever. And she has lived here for 15 years and frequents the three star places.
It is not your typcal French bistro meal. JR was the French food ambassador to Japan and came back in love with the sushi bar concept, so the place is something of a fusion on that theme.
