We will be coming into La Harve by cruise ship and would like to visit my 2ife%26#39;w grqndfather%26#39;s grave, near Arras.

Can anyone tell me the distance from La Harve to Arras, and travel time.

Hi Riverite — and welcome to the forums!

You%26#39;re going to have to rent a car and even then it isn%26#39;t going to be easy. Not sure how much time you have but at a rough guess looking at a map I would say that it will take you 3-3.5 hours to drive one way with minimal stops. It%26#39;s probably around 250-275 km and a bit more than half of the route will be on the Autoroute (super-highway with tolls). The French Autoroutes are very good, well engineered, and easy to drive, but the speed limit is increasingly rigidly enforced and fines are very steep.

When you are making a search there you will need the correct spelling of the town. It is LE HAVRE not La Harve.

Make sure you know exactly which graveyard you need. There are hundreds! You can search www.cwgc.org for the name of a %26quot;casualty%26quot;, and find where they are buried if they are British or Commonwealth citizens. There are also descfiptions of the individual cemeteries, and directions for finding them.

I endorse what has been said above. You will need to rent a car, and it is quite a long way from Le Havre to Arras (Vimy is just north of Arras). You would not want to do the round trip in a day.
