Tresors Engloutis d'Egypte

Has anyone been? Long lines? Worth a wait?

Last year I waited a few hours in the cold for %26quot;Melancholy%26quot; there in Jan. Wanted to see the renovated Grand Palais. Should have realized the art would not be shown under the ceiling! Understand this is.

Don%26#39;t want to reserve in advance because time is limited, day of arrival plus 5, some plans already and want to be %26quot;open%26quot;.

Also, anyone know how long the performance at the Cirque de Hiver is?

During the Melancholy (one of the best exhibits I%26#39;ve seen, btw) show the Grand Palais was also hosting a carnival under the glass. aris style, of course, with oysters and champagne along side the cotton candy and candied apples.

The Tresors Engloutis is said to be a great show, I have several friends who have been. I am waiting to take the kids during midterms, but the lines are LONG, so it is best to pre-purchase your tix. Even then, you can expect a half an hour wait.

Was the carnival during the whole run? I was there the last Fri. before it closed. It was the coldest day of my trip...naturally!

I just checked out the website, complete with FNAC reservation info. May reserve after I look at my %26quot;plans%26quot; again!

Phread,

BTW when are mid-terms?

|||

Good to know, thanks..may schedule for the 16th!

Looks really good. I walked by it the other day and the line was HUGE. Reservations are a must.

Happy, not only suitabe for teens, but probably would be a big hit. It is a serious of ancient Egyptian archeological treasures which were uncovered off the coast. I%26#39;m takin%26#39; the tweens at the end of the month.

Runs til mid-March.

Happy,

I read about it in Paris notes(parisnotes.com) a great little newletter. Their blurb says;%26quot;Egypt%26#39;s sunken treasures. These are treasures discovered off the Egyptian coast near Alexandria by the sub-marine archaeologist Franck Goddie...been hidden under water seen an earthquake...in 375AD. .. 489 objects ...from enormous statues to tiny gold earrings..humble household goods.%26quot;

Grand Palais(under the spectacular new nave)

Another little article describes it as the cultural hit of the season but warns it could be chilly, the renovations did not include a climate control system and the hugh area and high ceiling makes it chilly in winter and HOT in summer!

Sounds very interesting plus I want to see the space! (would not have minded the champagne and oysters..well I%26#39;ll get them somewhere!)

geordy and phread...thanks for the info. It gives me a good excuse to go to the Grand Palais. When I was there in Sept, I didn%26#39;t know until I got back to the states that I was there during was the two-week grand re-opening. I could have kicked myself.
