I%26#39;ll have un peu free time in Paris but want to visit the Louvre. Has anyone ever done the %26quot;quickie%26quot; Top Ten tour there? I heard you can hire a guide that will take you directly to the 10 most sought-after Objets d%26#39;Art in a few hours rather than one trying to hunt them down individually which could take days.

Hi!
I don%26#39;t know about the top ten tour, but you might want to check out the ipod download on the Rick Steves site, complete with maps. I believe it is designed to be two hours, gives you the biggies, and a short art history lesson.

A good guidebook will indicate the location of the major works of art in each area of the Louvre and give yiou an overall plan of the museum.

Merci beaucoup.

It would be very difficult to do a Top 10 as a quicky tour because the museum is so huge. The Top 3 are the Winged Victory, Venus de Milo, and the Mona Lisa.
If you go to the Louvre website, they have several pre-mapped out tours you can do on your own, chosing the one that best suits your interest.

Most museums give you a plan when you enter which helps tourists in a hurry. In the Louvre, I%26#39;ve also used the Michelin green guide to Paris which has clear plans with the various chefs-d’œuvre marked.
The Louvre website has some info in French, under Activités - Visites Guidées and downloading the file, to read Découverte (page 10 of 16) http://tinyurl.com/28lpz6 .
It looks like there are guided %26#39;highlights%26#39; tours lasting 1.5 hours in English at 11h, 14h and 15.45h daily except Tuesdays and public holidays, and a couple of tours on Sundays.
They can be prebooked not more than 14 days in advance for an additional €5 charge. There is no indication that there are only 10 masterpieces - that could be a Rick Steves special.
