Group of 5 -- Orly airport to Champs - best way?

HI All,

My family is going to Paris and I am wondering which is the best way to get to/from Paris Orly airport for a family of 5? I have never been to Orly airport and have no idea what area of town it is in...

We are staying at the Holiday Inn Champs Elysee.... should we take a van from the airport? And does anyone have an idea how much that is?

Or would it be a major cost saver to take the train though we all will have luggage...?

Hi xichic

As there are 5 of you with luggage I would take a taxi. You will need to wait for a Taxi Parisien minibus style taxi at the airport taxi rank but there are plenty of them so the wait should not be too long. It is only 20 kms from Orly Airport (south of Paris) to your hotel at 24 rue de Miromesnil in the 8th arrondissement, so there would be little if any saving taking the RER and Metro and that might possibly cost more if your children are not under 4 (free on the metro and RER) or under 12 (1/2 price). A taxi would be much less stressful.

My husband daughter and I once took a cab from Orly to the Latin Quarter and our hotel --

our friends took public transport which involved bus to metro and then a 6 block walk to the same hotel

we didn%26#39;t pay but about 20% more than we would have doing it their way -- once you have a group, it is worth the convenience to take a cab if you can get a car that large --

and after an overnight flight, it is nice to go door to door
