Tram Route in Nice

Has anyone used the new tram (streetcar) system in Nice? It was scheduled to start running around the end of 2006.

Does anyone know the route?

I have heard that a tram comes along about once every four or five minutes...and that the price is about 1,30 euros. Correct?

Any other information that you could provide would be greatly appreciated. We will be in Nice the week before Easter.

many thanks! ton amie

Here is the information for the tram.

You are right about the timing and the price. The routes are on the site.

When I was in Nice recently the line looked a long way from completion. I will have another look next week.

It is most definitely not up and running yet!!!

Thanks to all for responding. Does anyone know how soon it will be up and running?

Your guess is probably as good as anyone else%26#39;s! If you look at www.nice-tramway.org you will see recent pictures of the work in progress, showing that completion is a long way away.

Thanks, LondonBob!

That website was EXACTLY what I was looking for.

The mayor of Nice, M. Peyrat, says September 2007 but since they have discovered that the rails are too high in la Republique and lots of archeological remains elsewhere who can really say when it will be in force. Meanwhile, Jean Medecin daily resembles London%26#39;s Oxford Street on a particularly nasty day during the Christmas period where barriers make it impossible to cross exactly where you want to.

However, unless you are shopahoiics, this should in no way detract from a sublime stay in Nice simply because you can spend days if not weeks there without ever encountering the tramworks.
