Airports near Strasbourg for low cost airlines

Hello,

We need to go from NYC to Strasbourg mid June and the flight prices are insanely high at that period…

We are looking into 2 options:

1) Landing anywhere cheap in Europe and then take a low cost airlines to Strasbourg or near by: What are the nearby airports serviced by low cost airlines? (I only know Ryan Air and EasyJet. Is there anything else?)

2) Land somewhere somewhat close to Strasbourg in Germany/ Netherland? And rent a car to drive to Strasbourg and do a little road trip.

Any suggestions or ideas?

Other suggestion : fly to Paris and take the train to Strasbourg (TGV : 2h20 - will start on 8 June)

Else, the nearest low cost airport is Baden-Karlsruhe (Ryanair),but from there to Strabourg the road trip could be the same price than the train or more.

JFK-SXB (Strasbourg) RT ~$800 RT Iberia Airlines in June (mid-week travel) per mobissimo.com. I would be surprised if there is a cheaper way to get there.

Lowest non-stop fare RT to CDG is ~$750 with Air India.

Lowest non-stop fare RT to FRA ~$750 with Singapore Airlines.

RT rail fare for 2 people Paris-Strasbourg ~80€ with advance purchase PREMs fares though may be somewhat higher after introduction of the high speed route..

Rail fare from Frankfurt will be considerably higher, probably ~175€-200€ RT for 2 people.

There are no worthwhile low cost airline options to Strasbourg that I can find.

Try Easy Jet to Basel airport, in nearby Basel, Switzerland (which straddles France). I was able to book a flight for mid June for about $80.00 U.S. from Berlin, and likely Easy Jet flies there from other major European centres.

While Easyjet doen%26#39;t fly to Strasbourg, If you can find a cheap flight from NYC to Basel, this could be a good idea : you can take a train there to Strasbourg : about 1h30 - 18;70 Euros per person full price
