Can someone offer practical advice for traveling between these two points? I understand the high speed train links the two areas but what is the travel time and cost for a cochet (sp?)? Would it be easier to rent a car and drive?
Thanks for any assistance!

hi, i drive every year from paris to the french riviera, it is a long trip, around 900-950 kms, and if you are going in the summer or on holidays, it could take you up to 11 or 12 hours, as you might get lost etc. there are trains from paris to nice, or to cannes, i think to cannes is around 5 hours maybe less for Nice, and it would be easier. if you reserve in advance and are sure about your dates, you can take tickets that are not exchangeable neither reimbursable but quite cheap, last year in july from paris to st raphael i think i paid something like 100 euros round trip, but i could have found cheaper if i had reserved more in advance, and it was around 4h30-5hours trip.

i meant it could take 12 hours because of the heavy trafic and you also might get lost and loose another hour or two.

TGV from Paris is 3.5 hrs to Marseille then add another 3 hrs for Nice, that makes it 6.5 hrs. Flying is 1.5 hrs, cheap on Easy Jet (but there are luggage restrictions(, less cheap and more convenient if you don%26#39;t travel light, the Navette on Air France (they use to have 19 flights a day between Paris and Nice). Air France often leaves from Orly, more conveninent than CDG. I did both, train and Air France, and the latter is now my only option.

oh ok i thought it was around 5 hours on scnf website they say around 6h like ymca said so its a lot less longer than car, even if there is no traffic but you respect the speed limits, lets say you do 2 stops it will take you like 8 hours.
