Resort/Chalet Advice DEC 07

I am looking to travel from Southeast London in the UK to any decent ski resort in December 2007. We are going as a large family and are planning to travel by car. We are planning to leave on the 27th. I have looked on the net and found that charmonix looks like a nice ski resort.

What we need is a resort that is ok for beginners/Intermediates. We also need to find a chalet that would house 9/10 people. We are traveling as 6 Adults and 3 under 3 year olds.

Can anyone recommend a resort/chalet. We would like a chalet that is going to be covered in snow as the kids would love it.

Can anyone help? I am quiet happy to travel to Andorra if needs be.

We are really open minded.

Thanks in advance

Danian

If you go to Chamonix try to get accommodation in Argentiere or La Tour. They are higher up than Chamonix and more likely to be %26quot;covered in snow%26quot;.

Also they are not as busy.

You don%26#39;t say if you want a catered or self catering type of accommodation so it is difficult to advise.

We are looking for Self Catering. Finding it really hard to find villas/chalets...

Can you advise any sites...

Use the agency that rents my place out. They have chalets, studios and apparments.

Most of their places are in Argentiere but as mentioned previously I would opt for there rather than Chamonix.

But it must be said the nightlife in Chamonix is great.

Hi

I would look at La Rossier, La Plagne and Les Arcs as good resorts, plenty of blues and reds

For Les Arc, also consider Vallandry and Peisey, there are self catering chalets through, www.chaletfinder.co.uk, www.chalets.nl; we used the latter for a superb chalet in Vallandry or try the tourist office.

If you decide on Vallandry and need to hire gear use Sport 2000, run by a father and son very helpful

Never been to Chamonix but it has a reputation of being better for advanced skiers than beginners. I can certainly vouch for Vallandry (and neighbouring Plan Peisey) though. They are both part of the Les Arcs ski area, which has loads of blues and reds, and the runs back to Vallandry and Plan Peisey are some of the nicest in the domain. If you need more mileage you%26#39;re also right next to the new cablecar link to La Plagne, which opens up loads more runs. The village is quite small but more attractive than most purpose-built French places. It%26#39;s easy to drive to and has a good selection of restaurants, shops, hire shops etc. If you want somewhere closer to Geneva airport (and if you%26#39;re not too concerned about the style of the buildings) then Flaine could be worth a look - the snow record is better than most of the lower-lying resorts.
