I will be coming to Paris with my husband in early October for three nights .I am interested in staying in the Latin Quarter/Left Bank areas.I would welcome suggestions for good mid range priced hotels in a good location in those areas.
Thanks

The best you can do is to start reading some hotel reviews, that will help you narrowing your search down a bit:
Saint-Germain-des-Près:
tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g187147-zfk1-zfn19-zf…
Quartier Latin:
tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g187147-zfn10-zfp2-Pa…
Then you can see the location and area here (type number and name of the street):

Finally you have so much time yet before going, so buy a good guidebook, preferably the DK Eyewitness Travelguide PARIS, new edition 2006.
It contains many beatiful colour photos, some history, a logical way of presenting the areas, and many practical things about food, restaurants, shopping, means of transport etc.
Can be bought at www.amazon.com:

I can recommend two that I have stayed in and I loved them both. I found them through Trip Advisor and the great reviews.
Hotel St. Jacques on Rue des Ecoles- Pros- Parisian style, ornate decor in many rooms, larger than normal in deluxe rooms, nice breakfast area, very convenient area Cons- the street is noisy durin the day, the electrical plugs were old and limited in some rooms. Price here is about 124 euro.
Hotel College de France on Rue Thenard- pros-quiet street, rooms were updated with new plugs, new flat screen tvs.etc...the location was perfect, and the price was great (about 100 euro). Cons- the rooms were rather plain looking, but clean and efficient.
I would stay at either hotel again !!
