All the hotels I%26#39;ve identified are full - looking for suggestions in 5, 6 or 7 arrondisement - for wife%26#39;s 50th birthday so want it to be special but aroudn £150/night - in March so running out of time. Any help would be greatly appreciated - would like quiet and largish rooms and nice decor and friendly

Hi BHH
Which hotels have you already tried and found to be booked out?
It would help others to make suggestions if they can see the sort of place you prefer and to avoid suggestions that are booked out

Faux - that is a good question - I have tried the Hotel L%26#39;abbaye, The Hotel Verneuil, Hotel Residence Henri IV - maybe some others that I can%26#39;t remember at this point. Hope that is helpful as to what I%26#39;m looking for.

Hi BHH, Have you taken a punt on any of the 4 hotels on the Ile St Louis? I think they might suit you as the location is great and it is pretty much all for the locals and those in the 4 hotels later in the evening despite the visitors in the daytime. Paris 1204 recommended a restaurant on rue St Louis en Ile called Le Tastevin which might not be fancy enough for your big dinner but, if not, is a really pleasant traditional Parisian restaurant for another night and then a walk along the road along the Seine on the Island before a night cap? Not super flashy but really nice.
