Smaller Wineries near Nice?

Hello,

My family and I are traveling to Nice on Monday (and I must say I%26#39;m a giddy girl right now!) .Does anyone know of any wineries/vineyards near Nice, perhaps for a day or half day trip? My father owns a winery and would like to visit with the winemakers and such, so perferably a smaller one since it would be easier to get ahold of the winemakers.

Thank You,

Teresa

Greetings Teresa,

The immediate surrounding area around Nice does not have an abundance of winemakers, but if you have the time, check any of the web pages of %26quot;Bandol%26quot;, and you%26#39;ll have all that you need. The area is lush with vineyards, and although it is drive from Nice, the ride will definitely be wothwhile for your dad, as well as yourself. Enjoy!

The nearest %26quot;proper%26quot; winemakers to Nice are Chateau Bellet and Chateau Cremat, both of which can be reached by the little local Chemin de Provence train and an infrequent bus service

Both do guided tours by arrangement - the contacts are listed here

Cheers (hic!)

Today Sunday, was a kind of open Huse-day up in the Bellet area.

Pity you missed that opportunity to mingle with the producers.

There%26#39;s a good dozen of very small producers. As I %26#39;ve understood the situation, not much is open for drop-by visits. You get to the area preferable by city bus. It%26#39;s within the city of Nice itself.
