Streetwise map coverage??

Before I order my Streetwise Paris map from Amazon.com, I%26#39;m wondering does it cover ALL of Paris inside the ring road, say from Batignolles area, all the way S.E. to Bercy station? We are staying in hotel near Place de Clichy and leaving from Bercy Station to go to Venice, so I need pretty good coverage. Thanks for any answers.

it doesn%26#39;t cover the entire city though Gare de Bercy is on the very far edge of the map. Mostly, as it%26#39;s geared towards tourists, it covers the city center. When you get there, you could pick up a L%26#39;Indispensable book for less than 10€ from most news stands and it will have every street. I like both - Streetwise for a quick central reference and L%26#39;Ind. for details.

A better choice is the Paris Mapguide, in my opinion. More readable, good street index, bus lines, lists of attractions. A good value.

If you are only buying a map for your trip (and not for pre-planning) then wait until you get to Paris. Then go to the nearest newstand/kiosk and look for one of the %26quot;L%26#39;Indispensable%26quot; booklets with dark blue covers. They will cover EVERYTHING within Paris, with a street index and all the related metro/bus/RER maps.

The most explicit one is %26quot;Le Petit Parisien%26quot; which has 3 maps per arrondissement, one plain street map, one with metro lines overlaid on the streets, and one with bus lines overlaid on the streets. The most comprehensive all-transport map I%26#39;ve found and I own about 10 different ones!

It is about 5x8 inches so fits in a pocket book but not most pockets. If you aren%26#39;t going to ride the bus much, then you could get a pocket size version called %26quot;Paris Pratique par Arrondissements%26quot;, which is a street map by arrondissement showiing the metro stops. Also the street index and the transport system maps...

The free folded paper maps you find at the Tourist Office and most hotel lobbies is actually not bad - covers the whole city but may not have some street names.. but go around the block and then you can find where you are on the map..

Streetwise is ok for new visitors who are going to stick to the most-known areas and it%26#39;s fairly compact as far as size. If you really want to preorder and want to ensure it covers your territory, go to a good bookstore (Borders) and look at all the maps then decide.

...well, that should be %26quot;folding street maps.... ARE... not bad%26quot;... tch tch...
