Will I be spat upon if I order beer with my dinner in Paris. I like beer.

i see many guys ordering beer before their food, but maybe if you order beer at jules vernes or one of those gastronmic restaurant when they have so good wines people will look at you strangely lol! but in most casual places no pb.

definitely not - all restaurants and bistrots I have been to have a selection of at leat 4-5 different beer-brands.
%26quot;Pression%26quot; is draught beer - often the cheapest.
My favorites are the 2 brown types:
Leffe (brune) - elegantly served in big beautiful glasses (expensive)
Pelfort (brune) - with a picture of a pelican on the label.
Also %26quot;1664%26quot; and %26quot;Kronenbourg%26quot; are good ordinary beers (lager ?) - which is not expensive.
I often prefer beer with my lunch, as it does not contain so much alcohol as wine - and the bitter taste if beer relieves the thirst better, IMO.

Anyone who titles a post %26quot;I like beer%26quot; is required to visit ACADEMIE DE LA BIERE, 88bis Bd. du Port-Royal in the 5th Arr. RER-Port Royal. More than 300 bottled beers and a dozen or so on tap.
Order Moules et Frite with your beer. They%26#39;re excellent there.

Or Le Taverne on Blvd St Germain. 301 bottles (I made that up) and many beers on tap. Try an Adelscott for a kick. You can thumb your nose at Lipp%26#39;s as you walk two doors down from it.

Thanks for all the good info. What a good thing this forum is.

No! you won%26#39;t be spat on!!!
Even Les Invalides Cafe had beer to sell!
Hubby ordered beer especially during the heat wave last summer!
I tried the beer with lemonade -- (a popular drink) and it was very refreshing!

It%26#39;s been my expirience that Leffe blonde is relatively easy to find but not so the brune. If you are around the sixth Le Relais Odeon on Boulevard Saint Germain seems to have it all the time.
If you want to try it out before you go there is a cafe in NYC, Pigale on 8th and 48th, that has both Leffe blonde and brune on tap (and good moules).

I think it also depends a lot on what food you order your beer with. The classic (Belgian) combination of frites-moules-beer has been mentioned more than once, and there are plenty of others (choucroute?). But you might encounter strange looks (no spitting) if you order beer with your Pavé de rumsteck sauce bordelaise - made with red Bordeaux wine...
