staying in Dordogne, France

We (2 adults) want to stay in the Dordogne area, preferable in hotel or villa for a week in October, 2007. We want a romantic location in the heart of an historic village which is easily walked and close to other tourist site/towns etc. We will be travelling by train into the area

Thanks for any help

There are several hotels and/or B%26amp;B%26#39;s listed in Tripadvisor for Sarlat. The Dordogne hoever, is a large region and the historic villages/towns are not close together. Public transport is almost non existent, so a car would be necessary for a stay of a week if you want to see the region.

You can travel by train to Sarlat from Bordeaux a few times a day, or to Souillac from Paris. Cahors, in the Lot is also a fun city and can be reached by train from Paris.

What are your interests?
