Help!!!!
Getting married this summer and really want to go to South of France. Ideally would like to chill for the first few days and then do a bit of travelling. Would like to visit vineyard, chateax, Monaco.
Basically would appreciate any other other ideas.
Thanks a mill

Coming to Nice, you%26#39;ve got Monaco next door. That%26#39;s for sure. And, yes, there are also castles and some wineries here. In addition, there%26#39;s almost any amont also of other things to see and do here. You can spend all the time available in the area. However, to the extent that you would be prepared to drop the visit to Monaco, you could see castles and visit wineries also elsewhere in France. The most well-known castle-strip is in the Loire valley, which also happens to be one of the major wine producing areas. The Beaujolais- area is generally pleasing with a lot of good food. Same story also in the Perigord area. Put simple, where there%26#39;s wine there are also castles. The restriction on your list is really Monaco.

A lot depends on your actual dates. If you are thinking of most of July or any time in August I%26#39;d suggest skipping the Côte d%26#39;Azur in favour of some other area that will not be quite so jam-packed with visitors from all over Europe.
Burgundy has splendid sites to visit, including châteaux, cathedrals, basilicas, lovely villages and more. And it has some of the world%26#39;s finest vineyards and the best food and wine in France with the *possible* exception of Paris.
(HappyinDijon, if you are reading this would you ask the Burgundy tourist office to send along my check please? I never have this problem with any of the other regional tourist offices I represent! Incidentally, I have recently resigned from my position with the Paris tourist board...) :-)
