I looked at the map on the RATP site, and the word Chartres appears in the gray band for zone 8, but there is an arrow, so I am not sure if Chartres is actually in zone 8 or if that line just goes through zone 8 on the way to Chartres.
If Chartres is in zone 8, then it is worth buying a zone 1-8 Carte Orange for 43,50E (instead of zones 1-2 for 16E) because it will cover our 8E trip from CDG to Paris and our 25E round trip to Chartres.

If you are looking at the RATP%26#39;s map, the gray band is BEYOND zone 8 (there are only 4 stations in the pale orange zone 8 band).
The arrow means %26#39;direction Chartres%26#39;
A carte orange will NOT cover Chartres.

NO..the city of CHARTRES is beyond the regular STIF Transportation Zone system.

Thank you. I thought it was unlikely, but worth a shot. Just 11 more weeks before we arrive in Paris!
