Cargese recommendation Thanks

THANK YOU aardvark10....funny...I was teaching my students today how one of their favorite book characters....Arthur....is an ardvark...

I read of a Motel Ta Kladia..take a look

www.motel-takladia.com

from www.marcuslink.com.....www.marcustraval.com

We both speak soo little French though...and I am wondering if I should be a bit woried about staying at more %26quot;local%26quot; places ie) No British flag on their site...or no site at all....

I can%26#39;t seem to get the right web site for Thalassa..

Have you taken the walks in and around Plage de Cupabia; Porto-Pollo Plage de Taravo, Abbartello, down around Capicciolo....past south of Propriano...to Campomoro....???

I was wondering how much of the coast we could actually see there from an EARLY morning day trip out form Bonifacio...and maybe also hit Filitosa...same day..

What do you think????

Smile

Thanks Again

Fishpicker, thanks for your reply.

Aardvaak - chosen so that I would always be first alphabetically, as I%26#39;m so unlikely to be first at anything else!!

Anyhow, I%26#39;ve taken a look at the motel Kaladia - there IS a British flag in the top left hand corner of the web site.I ahd no problem in getting an English version. in detail and cannot help you there This looks like a self-catering place and it%26#39;s at the far end of the Plage de Pero; thus it would be quite a walk to the town itself.

I don%26#39;t think the Thalassa has a web site - it%26#39;s very old fashioned and when I went they didn%26#39;t take credit cards either; this may now have changed.

I have to confess to know nothing of the south of the islandin detail so cannot help with that I%26#39;m afraid.

THE one trip you must take whilst in Cargese is to Piana and Les Calanches where there are many walks of varying distances. Mind the goats on the road!!

Don%26#39;t be lulled by the fact that places aren%26#39;t too far away on a map. If you plan on getting places, expect an average speed of something below 30mph. Partly because of the winding nature of the roads but also because you%26#39;ll feel obligated to get out and look at the views. The driver can have a hard time on Corsica because you want to take in a view you can glimpse out of the corner of your eye but the passengers get uncomfortable if you turn and stare, whilst the road does switchbacks.

Capicciolo and Porto-Pollo are the same game as Campomorro, just the opposite side of the Gulf of Valinco. Either are lovely destinations and really nice beaches. I%26#39;d be inclined to do the Porto Pollo side on the same day as Filitosa. Maybe do a second trip that took you to Propiano and Campomorro and Sartene for dinner.

But don%26#39;t try to do squeeze too much into one day. You%26#39;ll end up driving like a madman and not taking the time to appreciate the island%26#39;s charms.

We are visiting Corsica in September and I have done a bit of research on hotels in Cargese, there isn%26#39;t a lot available (as far as I can see) but for brief info, rates, contact details etc. try :

cargese.net/en/…thalassa.html

This will also bring up other hotels, including Les Lentisques which is a 3 star and I like the look of - but thanks to tripadvisor we now have been sidetracked by Les Roches Rouges in Piana and may try there !

Les Lentisques has a sort of website :

www.leslentisques.com/hotel.htm

Its a bit basic but might give you some idea of what its like.

Know Abbartello/Cappiciolo - very scenic area, lovely beaches, worth a visit.

Great info as usual

Big question??

What do the hotels mean when they are discussing PENSION??

The hotel in Abarrtello was soo quick to respond when booking and everything went smoothly

we are ...I regret to think...slowly loosing other choices around the island...Roches Roughes in Piana for example....

No respons for two weeks with the online contacts and no answer through the phone though we only tried 2 times.

Can anyone recommend an old world hotel right in St Florent verses on the outskirt beach roads? AND nope...we can%26#39;t do those nice four stars either

Can we get a check around the Cap and do the boat trip from St Florent with only two days/two nights (the first day we will be leaving from corte early am...

Thanks Again

Pension = board, i.e. demi pension = half board (breakfast and evening dinner normally). I think that is what you mean.

|||

Thanks

Enjoy your September trip!!
