We have booked at the hotel du pantheon on the internet and have a confirmation by e mail. Would it be wise to double check over the telephone with the hotel concerning the booking or is the e mail confirmation succicient?

Sure if you want you can either email or phone the hotel for reconfirmation. Contact either Carine, the manager, or the night clerk, Churaphon.
Hope this is helpful.

Did you book directly with the Hotel and therefore the email is -from- the hotel..? If yes, I don%26#39;t see why you would need to call them. I would, however, about 2 weeks prior to my trip send the same email back and just say %26quot;Just to reconfirm that I will arrive as planned .. thank you%26quot;. Be sure to update the hotel with any changes in credit card accts (ex if you close the one you reserved with, the hotel might cancel you b/c they won%26#39;t be able to recoup for a no-show).
If you booked via a third party, then I would certainly email directly or call to confirm the hotel has the same booking for you.

If you booked directly with the hotel itself---and not a third-party booking / reservations agency---then your e-mailed confirmation should be sufficient. What we always do is re-confirm two(2) to three(3) weeks prior to intended arrival and make any REASONABLE %26#39;..special..%26#39; requests we have known and ask if they can be accommodated. Ours would be something in the nature of being assigned a %26#39;..Smoking-permitted..%26#39; room, on the top floor. In many %26#39;..special request..%26#39; instances the hotel may not be able to %26#39;..guarantee..%26#39; that every request will be met...but in many, they will make note of these and take them into consideration when apportioning rooms from their available inventory for reservations...and do their best to comply....if possible.
So (as examples) if you must have a %26#39;..Non-Smoking..%26#39; room....rear facing,...on a lower floor...this would be a good time to re-confirm and remind them. Once you%26#39;ve arrived, matters may be beyond their control.
