Hotel Monge or Hotel Familia?

Hi,

I hope you can help me decide on a hotel and room, I%26#39;ve narrowed down my list to the following 2 hotels:

1 -Hotel Monge

a) 98 euros for a double room with shower

b) 110 euros for a deluxe double room with shower/bath (room is bigger)

breakfast is 6.50 euro/person (not included in price)

2 -Hotel Familia (breakfast is included in price)

a) 110 euros for a double room with shower

b) 119 euros for a deluxe double room with shower/bath (room is bigger and has balcony)

I%26#39;ll be in Paris from May 30th - June 2nd and was wondering if AC is required? Hotel Familia doesn%26#39;t have AC. Should I be worried?

So which hotel and room should I pick? I%26#39;m small (5%26#39;1%26quot;) so I%26#39;m not worried but my husband is over 6ft so I wouldn%26#39;t want him to feel cramped.

Thanks!

I have not stayed at the Hotel Familia but friends and I have now enjoyed several stays at the Hotel Résidence Monge on rue Monge over the past few years and it is now my favourite place to stay in Paris. It is a small hotel, very well located in the 5th. with simply furnished, clean rooms, some with little balconies. The service is always efficient and helpful.

Both of these hotels are popular and get good reviews. There is a good chance you will not need air conditioning, but then again you might. So, if it were me and I had a choice between two pretty good choices, I would take the one with air conditioning just to be safe (and comfortable).

I think that you will find that the FAMILIA is better situated, within easier strolling / walking distances than the Monge. As for A/C, for late-May / early-June is is certainly at least possible that you may get unseasonably hot weather....but I don%26#39;t think it probable.

We%26#39;ve stayed at the FAMILIA and loved the hotel (and have since recommended to several family, friends and acquaintance...some of whom have been multi-repeat guests..%26#39;voting with their wallets%26#39;). The only reason why we haven%26#39;t returned is that we tend to be high-summer visitors (most usually July-to mid-August for 9-11 day stays) and at this high-summer-season of the year, extended heat-waves lasting several days are not at all uncommon...so for us A/C is necesssary....but in late-spring, we wouldn%26#39;t be much concerned.

Thanks for your feedback! I think I may be leaning towards Hotel Monge just because there%26#39;s AC (just in case there%26#39;s a heat wave) and it comes out to be cheaper than Hotel Familia.
