Normandy in a day? You will barely scratch the surface as there is just so much to do - I could easily spend a fortnight just drifting between little villages, beautiful coastal towns, WW2 locations to name just a few.
Cityrama do a day trip from Paris but it%26#39;s not cheap - graylineparis.com/en/…normandy
- will give you more detail. It%26#39;s a long day too, leaving at 7-15am and returning at 9pm.

What parts of Normandy interest you? It%26#39;s a very large region, and in one day you will only be able to visit a small section.

We rented a car and stayed overnight in Bayeaux- and were so glad we did- it%26#39;s an easy drive from Paris, but the whole area is completely charming- actually we stayed two nights and also did Mt. Ste Michelle- outstanding- but glad we didn%26#39;t stay over there- a bit of a tourist trap I think.!

Yes, you can do it. It will be a long day and like the others said and you probably already know, it will just scratch the surface, but hey, you can always make a return trip.
We did a day trip a few years ago as it was the only thing that worked with our schedule. We did not use an organized tour per say, but our hotel knew a taxi driver who liked to do the occassional trip to that area. So we hired him for the day. We left very early in the morning, stopped at Caen for the museum for a couple hours. Then had lunch at Port-en-Bessin with the driver. That was great in that we were able to have a relaxing conversation and find out more about the area as well as have our meal. Then to a few of the sites, ending at Omaha Beach and American Cemetary. It was a long day, but we were glad we did it.
We will be back in June and are taking several days over there this time.

We did the Normandy trip in a day -
you can catch a train at 10 a.m. - that get%26#39;s you to the town that you start your trip around 12:40 p.m.
the tour busses pick you up and you%26#39;re off to the beaches, cemetery, and the church.
you%26#39;re dropped off at the station around 6:30 p.m.
for the 7 p.m. train trip back to Paris
it%26#39;s a full day - but possible
go with first class train tix - and bring snacks to eat

It%26#39;s true that it takes more than a day to visit Normandy, but to get a worthwhile sample of the area, I recommend the Normandy/WW 2 day trip offered by Paris Visions. it%26#39;s really worth the money if you have only one day in which to do this, as we did. Paris visions is located on the Rue de Rivoli, sort of near the Louvre. There is a large statue of Joan of Arc outside the office. The trip leaves early in the morning, I think around 7:00 and returns late. A nice lunch at a seaside restaurant is included. At the rest stop on the way back, buy sandwiches and drinks to have on the bus on the way back because you%26#39;ll be very hungry and too tired when you return to go out to dinner. The trip includes the American cemetery and Omaha Beach. I found the whole trip impressive and our guide was excellent. As I said, this is not comprehensive, but I felt we got our money%26#39;s worth for a one day trip.

I asked the OP about interests because not everyone puts the D-Day beaches at the top of the list and there%26#39;s so much more to see in Normandy: the charming small villages, the abbeys, Monet%26#39;s house at Giverny, the coastal towns north of Bayeux, Rouen...I%26#39;d be inclined to plan a day working from Giverny to Rouen and the abbeys.

thank you all for your messeges. they will be a great help to us on our june day trip to normandy
thanks

HEY MPLS!! OR anyone!
I am very interested in your train trip! We are a family of 6 and cars and busses are just busting the budget. I am very interested in the train option for one day. Can you provide more information? How much were the tour busses in Caen?
I think i saw 25 euro somewhere for the train from Paris.
Thanks for any feedback
