i am flying into Geneva and going to Provence in May. any recommendations as to the best way to get to Avignon? i looked on the Rail Europe web site and did not see a direct TGV on that date (unless it is too far in advance)? is it difficult to drive/park in Avignon?

hi
you need the SNCF web site, you%26#39;ll get it on google.fr It is the best way. Book tickets 90 days in advance for best rates.
Parking will not be too bad in May. If you are flying back home from Geneva why not hire the car there and drive, it is a pleasant drive. If you need more info mail me......mas.pomona@wanadoo.fr

Thanks Wilko. Any suggestions on must-sees in Provence?

Hi Angus
Lots to see but it really depends what you are into. Brief list:
Luberon hill villages
Antiques market Isle sur la sorgue
Les Baux, St Remy and the Alpilles
The Calanques, Marseille
Cotes du rhone vineyards
Aix, Avignon
Roman amphitheates and ruins
pont du Gard
food and scenery.
Accommodation centrally based ie the Luberon would be perfect. check out B%26amp;Bs in the Luberon on this web site. Email me on mas.pomona @wanadoo.fr if you need further help.

Thank you again, Wilko. is there a place in the Luberon where you%26#39;d be in a town, within walking distance to restaurants, etc? Gordes, perhaps?

Hi Angus
Sorry to be a while in getting back to you.
I think that Gordes is a tourist trap, well worht a half a day visit but that%26#39;s it, IMO.
Difficult to recomend a luberon village with lots of restos, there aren%26#39;t any reallyyou will really need to drive, which is no big deal, especially in May.
In our small village, Cheval Blanc, there is one excellent and reasonable restaurant for dinner/lunch and an great cafe for weekday lunch, 12 euros 3 courses incl.wine, real french experience..
With this in mind I would look at location, because you will need to drive to see Provence, and it really isn%26#39;t difficult.
Cheers Wilko
