Hi there,
I was wondering if anyone had an estimate of how much taxi cab fare would be from the Gare du Nord Train Station to the hotel:
Amarante Pierre Arc de Triomphe
25 Rue Theodore De Banville
Paris 75017
France
It will be for two people, probably will have 2 luggage each.
Thanks!

Hi Luvness, it depends on traffic but it is only 5 kms so I would be surprised if it was over 10 Euros but certainly not over 15 Euros unless something drastic happened to the traffic.

Hi Faux,
We actually ended up booking at the:
Astor St. Honore
11 rue d%26#39;Astorg, Paris 75008, France
How much do you think the taxi cab fare would be from Gare du Nord?

Hi Luvness
According to the itinerary on www8.mappy.com your hotel is even closer than the other at only 4 km from Gare du Nord, so the previous estimates would be reasonable for this trip.

Catching a cab at the Gare du Nord is one of my least favorite travel moments in Paris. The lines are long and the drivers can be anywhere from emrey difficult to downright dishonest.
If you are arriving via Thalys or Eurostar you can avoid this by reserving your taxi from the train. It is a form you fill out and there is a stand with a driver waiting for you as you get off the train. The service is free for those traveling bus. class.
The metro is also an easy option if your bags are small.
If you do have to take the cabm be sure to read the sticker posted in the window (n English) so that you know the correct fees and charges (per bag, for a train station pick up, etc..).

Hi Luvness
I have never had a problem with the cabs from Gare du Nord but if you are travelling business class, why not take advantage of the advance bookings mentioned.

It is great that you%26#39;ve never had a problem, Faux, but enough people have that Eurostar saw the value of setting up an alternative.

Phread, that is great information! I never knew that. I agree, one of my least favorite travel experiences is dealing with catching cabs in Paris especially at night after the subways close. What a horror it can be. Anytime you can simplify a a taxi experience, I say go for it. As far as price goes, I don%26#39;t think there is too much to worry about for short trips unless you get unlucky with a dishonest driver. As Phread said, check out the tariff notice. Good luck Luvness.

Reserving ahead is the way to go. Believe me once you have seen the line-up you will be happy to follow Phread%26#39;s advice. On this one I trust a local, unless someone else know a way to cut the line!!!!

It also depends on when you%26#39;re arriving at Gare du Nord, but I%26#39;ve never had problems with unusually long lines and dishonest taxi drivers. As Faux mentions your second hotel choice should be even closer so the fare won%26#39;t be that expensive.
