Beaches neat Port Grimaud / St Tropez How Busy? Traffic?

Hi,

We%26#39;ve booked to stay at Les Restanques de St Tropez for the first 2 weeks in July 2007. I%26#39;m very interested on any feedback on the place if anyone%26#39;s been.....

Would be good to have some info on the best beaches to visit in the area. We have a 3 year old so as long as there%26#39;s sea and sand and somewhere to buy a drink she%26#39;s happy. On the other hand us grown ups also like to splash out on occasion on the sunbeds, umbrellas and a nice lunch at one of the private beaches.

As we live in Brussels the plan is to drive. According to some other posts, the traffic can be very bad in the summer. Do you need to drive through St Tropez to get to the beaches? How easy is it to park? Better to get there very early or later in the afternoon?

This the first time we%26#39;ve travelled in July as my daughter has started Belgian kindergarten. Will we need to reserve at the Beach / Restaurants?

Thanks for any advice......

Consult posts from JBart - she is theTripadvisor authority on St Tropez access by car.

Personally, I would ditch the car - you will get everywhere more quickly walking than by car in peak season in this part of the Riviera. .

Thank you Nicelife one of these days I must take you on the back roads tour. LOL

Otherwise we%26#39;ll meet for a drink in St Tropez - you by boat and me by car.

Have a good evening.

Sorry I forgot I did reply on the other post to the original question.

Hi,

Thanks very much for the info. Belgian schools pack up on the 29th June, so we%26#39;ll probably leave home then and do the trip over 2 days - arriving in Les restanques on the 30th. So - hopefully ahead of the rush! Made investment in DVD player for the car!

Uptil now we%26#39;ve always travelled June /September time (though last year we were sat on beach at Villefranche sur mer on 1st Nov!) and have stayed all along the med coast from Languedoc to the Cinque Terra in Italy - but never with a car. We always stay within walking distance of the beach and use public transport so this year is a bit of a first!

Picked accommodation because they have good pools, reasonably priced villas and the all important kids club! Maybe this year mum and dad will get a rest too. Thanks very much for all the advice on the beaches. I%26#39;m looking forward to it!
