Do you just say un carnet s%26#39;il vous plait or do you have to be more specific?
|||
Non - those are precisely the words.
Nowadays you don%26#39;t get any fancy carnet though - they just hand you 10 loose tickets:
%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;
Tarifs applicables depuis le 1er juillet 2006
Ticket %26quot;t%26quot; Zones Euros
1 ticket 1,40
Carnet de 10 tickets plein tarif 10,90
Carnet de 10 tickets tarif réduit 5,45

Remember that the Carte Orange is only 16 euros
|||
The thing to remember about the Carte Orange is they are valid from a Monday to a Sunday - so if you purchase and use your Carte Orange on a Friday, it will only be valid until Sunday.
|||
BJL, you cannot buy it on a Friday. The Carte Orange is sold only until Wednesday of the same week it is supposed to be valid for.
From Friday this week, you can buy your Carte Orange, valid for the following week.
Zis is veaaaryyy ztrange - but then again, we are in the country of haute couture and haute cusine ....... why make it simple when you can make it veaaaryyy complicated ?
:o)
|||
The days of selling make sense when you look at the price : after wednesday, it%26#39;s cheeper to buy 4 Mobilis (day passes) than a carte orage hebdomadaire.
The monday sunday period reflects what the pass is : a workers pass (there is still a loophole allowing to get one, but this will be soon finished as the carte orange will disapear in it%26#39;s present form (you%26#39;ll be still able to buy tickets for a while but the ID part of the card (mandatory) won%26#39;t be available at counters at the end of the year (and some stations are allready sometimes out of stock).
|||
And can I but them at any metro station?
|||
You can buy a carnet at any metro station, from a manned booth or a vending machine (some tobaconnists sell them too, they have a green RATP sign outside).
|||
%26gt;%26gt;you cannot buy it on a Friday%26lt;%26lt;
Thanks for setting me straight, GitteK. I didn%26#39;t realize that; was just using %26quot;Friday%26quot; as an example. Good to know. I am arriving on Thursday and was going to puchase one, but after reading about the days limit, think I will just purchase the 10 ticket Carne. I plan to walk, walk, walk, anyway :-)
|||
BJL (and dearest GitteK): It%26#39;s actually Thursday that you can%26#39;t purchase the CO Hebdo....it%26#39;s the only day of the week that it isn%26#39;t for sale. You can purchase one on Fridays, but it isn%26#39;t valid for travel until the following Monday...(and I know that%26#39;s what GitteK meant).
So the simple truth, BJL, is that when you arrive on a Thursday, you have no choice but to use other single ticket or pass options, at least for the first 4 days you are there.

ArrowCapet:
and that is exactement why I always fly to Paris Sunday evening, leaving Copenhagen at 18:15 - then I buy my coupon hebdo at the RER station in CDG. So Monday morning I am ready for adventure !!!

Hi.
I understand that a carnet is 10 individual tickets. My question is how do you validate each ticket on the metro or bus? Do you dip it into a machine? swipe it? something else??
Thanks in advance.
Mez.
