Nice in September 2007

Hi,

we are coming to Nice for the first two weeks in September 2007.

We have been there once before and the plan this time is to use Nice as our base and go to day trips by train to explore the region, can someone recommend some of the best day trips from Nice, nothing too taxing, we just like to wander around. Also is there a web site that I ca nuse to watch out for shows/concerts in the area at that time?

Thanks,

Noel

Tickets for all the big artists - French and International - are sold through FNAC and Virgin in Nice. Book well in advance - its a quirk of French %26quot;politics%26quot; that for many venues seats tend to be mostly priced the same - who books first gets the best.

I am afraid by September most of the grand music festivals will be done - Nice Jazz Festival, Juans le Pins, - July and August almost every major town has a Jazz Festival or a Pop Festival.

Concert announcements online - there are lots - this is one.

The best excursionas from Nice are some of the boat day trips from the Port - Cannes, St Tropez, Monaco. By train you can go easy to all the main resorts - Antibes, Cannes and again Monaco. The buses will take you furthet and to lesser destinations.

%26quot;Nothing too taxing?%26quot; will leave you with the herd. You can do much better than that!

Cheers

Thanks for your quick reply, the idea is to have as relaxing a time as possible, can you tell me if the companies who do the day cruises have web sites? also is it feasible to plan for a day by train to Italy(Milan) or Spain?

Thanks,

Noel

Greetings Noel,

Spain is definitely out of the question for a day trip, and the furthest you want to go into Italy for the day, would be San Remo, which is a very charming city, with a possible stop off at Ventimiglia if you go on a Friday for a huge market of everything from olive oils to great Italian cheeses, to sweat socks. You name it, they got it!! Whatever, or wherever, enjoy!

(Excuse the itchy trigger finger - two clicks!)

Thinking on Funksters comment re Italy.

For general purposes San Remo is an easy and interesting sortie, but we did manage a day trip as far as Genoa from Nice, which is possible if you time the train exactly right. At the risk of a virtual lynching I wrote up an opinion on Genoa over on VT

Form your own view whether its worth it!

But I%26#39;m with Bruce on Ventimiglia, as a great day trip for %26quot;shopping%26quot;

Brilliant, thanks for the replies, roll on September
