which hotel would you recommend, is the one in a better street/location than the other? we are looking for a nice clean hotel with cafes, restaurants, shops in the neighbourhood. which rooms are better of these two hotels? I%26#39;ve looked on tripadvisor but still can%26#39;t decide. Or another suggestion for a hotel in the 5th or 4th?
Hope you help me with my decision!

You asked originally about the Bretonnerie which I would choose over the Henri IV Rive Gauche and Jardin de l%26#39;Odeon. I%26#39;ve seen the Bretonnerie and it looks very charming and it%26#39;s in the Marais on a nice street. The Henri IV RG and Jardin de l%26#39;Odeon are also well-located, but I%26#39;d say the street the Henri IV RG is going to be the busiest of the three on the whole. All three hotels are well-placed for different types of cafes and restaurants. Read about the hotels again and see which one appeals to you the most.

Paris 1204 - But your favorite hotel is still the Lutece on Ile St. Louis, right?
|||
Shoesy, the Lutece is my favorite on the Ile St. Louis but in terms of the room size mostly with staff secondary. You mentioned on another thread about your daughter%26#39;s honeymoon and your suggstion of staying at the Lutece. I%26#39;ve stayed at their other hotel Deux Iles and another hotel, Hotel Saint Louis which is located up the road from both.
I would say that the Hotel Saint Louis staff is the best out of the three, but the double rooms are too small even for Paris. They have a top floor room (#52) with balcony and a small view of the Seine. But even that room I hear is small. My room was #42 a corner room with two windows and a balcony that you can%26#39;t really use but it%26#39;s a balcony nonetheless. Views were of the street. Bathroom was super tiny yet very updated with nice shower/tub combo and lots of nice water pressure. The bedspreads are pretty worn however. I saw room #33 and the ground floor rooms as they let me choose and the bedspreads were worn in these rooms too. But somehow I liked this hotel alot.
The Deux Iles%26#39; room was comfortable but not large and it needed remodeling as well as the bathroom. The furniture is a bit worn and the bedspreads are a bit tired looking. My room was #332.
At the Lutece I had room #553 which is a triple (I reserved a double, high floor and they gave me this room) I believe as it had a third bed (single) on the other side of the room. Being a triple there was a bit more space to walk around. During my stay the hotel rooms weren%26#39;t remodeled yet (they remodeled early 2006). So everything should look now like the photos on their site.
Therefore, I would suggest for a honeymoon on Ile St. Louis the Hotel de Lutece if you wanted to choose from these three hotels.

Thanks for all that info., Paris 1204. As I mentioned in the other thread, nothing has been decided regarding the honeymoon. Of course I told my daughter that we really love everything about the Britannique, and she seems to like the decor of the rooms. The Britannique is more convenient than the Lutece as far as the metro is concerned, but I can really picture staying on Ile St. Louis for a honeymoon.

Paris 1204,
what about hotel Caron de Beaumarchais? I like this hotel also in the marais area. Is it in a nice street?
|||
Shoesy, sure, you%26#39;re welcome for the info. The Britannique%26#39;s rooms look very nice and I hear the junior suites are comfortable. It seems like a nice hotel for a honeymooning couple also.
dalmazd, yes, the street the Hotel Caron de Beaumarchais is located on is nice. There%26#39;s quite a bit of foot traffic, but it%26#39;s not bothersome. It%26#39;s similar to the Ile St. Louis hotels above as they%26#39;re all located on the island%26#39;s main street that gets lots of pedestrians and traffic. But it dies down in late evenings and really doesn%26#39;t bother me.
With the Caron you%26#39;re in the heart of the Marais. So it%26#39;ll be so nice for the various cafes and restaurants the area offers. The hotel%26#39;s lobby is quite tiny and it%26#39;s furnished with what seems to be museum quality pieces. It%26#39;s a bit eccentric to me but it looks nice.

Paris 1204, thank you for your information. Nou i%26#39;m deciding between:
Hotel Caron de Beaumarchais, hotel Bretonnerie and hotel Lutece (because of your recomendation). Which one would you recommend?
|||
we stayed at the Hotel Henri IV in June and loved it. It is so close to the center of town and there are lots of cafes, etc. 1/2 block away. Notre Dame is 5 minutes and St. Michel metro station too. Check out the reviews. Mine had several pictures included and was posted in July.
|||
We loved the Hotel Henri V Rive Gauche also... and we did not notice any street noise and our room was perfect. It was a great place to stay for walking all over the city.
|||
Is the street where the Henri IV is very busy?
