It has been on TV and in the newspapers that a prominent U.S. chain of stores has had their credit info stolen, and customers are advised to obtain new credit cards with new numbers. I used my card to pay for tickets for overnight train from Paris to Venice in March, and I need to show the same card, along with ref. number, to claim my tickets. I am concerned that if I have a new card with diff numbers, I will not be able to receive my tickets upon arrival. Does anyone have an answer for this? Would I be able to use the same card, but with a diff. number? Thanks so much.

There really isn%26#39;t much you can do except worry about it, if or until your credit card issuer actually issues you a new card. But even if they do, you will still have the old de-activated card and account number. So simply retain this card and present any de-activated card and any newly issued card---and your Reservation Confirmation Number---when you collect your tickets at the station.
With the potential (however slight) of problem, make certain that you either stop by (at ANY SNCF station of Boutique in Paris) to collect your tickets before your intended day of departure...or arrive early at the station on day of departure.

Been there, done that. Just keep the old card, doesn%26#39;t matter that it%26#39;s not valid anymore.

Forsberg: Does your reply mean that this scenario actually happened to you and you solved the problem by having your old cancelled card with you, along with the new one with the new number, and you were able to pick up your tickets? Whew!! That makes me feel so much better. Thanks very much.

mimiccr, I think you are referring to the TJX thing. If you%26#39;ve been notified that your personal information was compromised as mine was, I do hope you%26#39;ve cancelled your old card regardless of the train ticket dilemma. You can definitely use your cancelled card (just don%26#39;t snip it in half as you ordinarily might to discard it) to obtain your train tix. I%26#39;ve done so in the past, albeit for a different reason (I just wanted to pay with cash). And, even though you won%26#39;t be responsible for any fraudulent use of the info, the illegal activity has already started.

Yes it does. Ther%26#39;s also no need to show the new card as you%26#39;ve allready paid, that might just confuse them.
