Some help feeling French

For all of you wishing to work on your French, or just enjoy hearing it soken in your homes, there is a fairly new CD available of the fable de La Fontaine read by Fabrice Luchini, a popular actor. It is a great listen and an excellent study. Haven%26#39;t checked, but pretty confident that it is avail. on Amazon.fr Happy Listening.

What a great suggestion. One could also buy a printed edition of the Fables, there is a good one full of Gustave Dore illustrations, and read while listening to the CD. I find that the fables are still today very d%26#39;actualite.

My favorites ones are: La laitiere et le pot au lait, Le rat des villes et le rat des champs, Conseil tenu par les rats.

It has the Conseil tenu par les Rats and a few other rats. Also has a nice Lion that was dedicated to Mlle de Sévigné. There is a text included in the CD, but it is not beautiful like the Doré and not complete, either.

ps - If you memorize any Fable de la Fontaine, you can go to the galette guy at the bio market (Sat. Batignolles, Sun. Raspail) and he%26#39;ll give you a free galette!!!

THanks for the suggestion - I was just about to ask for suggestions on how to brush up on my formerly-excellent but now sad French. Unfortunately, here in the U.S., it looks to be available as an expensive Import:

Any other suggestions? Anything I can download onto my iPod? What about something I could stream in on the computer (I used to stream French radio....).

Thanks!

I don%26#39;t know about the USA but in Canada we get TV5 which is a mix of FR2, FR3, A2 and some belgium and swiss stations. A great way to keep in touch. If you don%26#39;t get the tv signal try the website tv5.org it does have the news bulletin in video.

|||

I just picked up Ice Age 2--the Meltdown. I have to try the French audio again. I missed a few things... That dubbing is excellent.

|||

TV 5 is available here with certain cable/dish networks. Don%26#39;t have that but here in NYC on Channel 25 at 7:00PM we get a half hour of FR2 news--with subtitles n English! Well most of the time , sometimes they have technical difficulties!

Great way to listen to French, compare to subtitles and be proud when you understand wors and realize the title doesn%26#39;t %26quot;exactly match%26quot;!. Also gives you an idea of the %26quot;pulse%26quot; and current events in France. Plus you can see what people are wearing on the streets of Paris...better than just a weather report!
