Hello there,
My mother and I are travelling in Provence June 22-29th. We are flying into Nice and then would like to stay in a small town near the center of Provence so we can stay at one place for several nights do day-trip drives. We are most interested in making daytrips to places like the Gorges du Verdon and smaller, less touristy towns. We are not interested in casinos or beaches.
Does anyone have a recommendation of a town or even a bed and breakfast or hotel that would be a good place for us to day trip out of?
Thank you!

Hi
If you are not interesred in beaches travel to the Luberon and base your selves there. Check out B%26amp;Bs in the Luberon on this site.

I agree that to place your self in the luberon Isle sur la Sorgue are would be the best place to make your base. From there you can do day trips all around the area and see Avignon and Aix at the same time if you want to

Maggie, since you asked for a recommendation on where to stay, you might take a look at both Escargot and Wilko%26#39;s B%26amp;B%26#39;s. I have not stayed in them, but they look so lovely and they both get super reviews. I live not too far from both of them, so tend to weekend or vacation further from home.
Do a search on this website for
Mas Pomona
and
Les Carmes
I think you would be very happy in both (splitting your time) or either.

Thanks Toutou!
I do not know exactly where you live but if you are ever passing Les Carmes please pop in.

Greetings maggie97,
After enjoying the wonderful city of Nice, you and Mom could consider basing yourselves in Aix-en Provence, which is a lovely town with markets, fountains, cafes, winding little alleys, quaint squares, and some terrific restaurants. You might contact the office of tourism at www.aixenprovence.com for available hotels. I might add, that I last stayed at the Concorde Hotel in Aix, which is situated near almost all activity, and has outdoor and indoor parking. From Aix, you could take day trips to Avignon, Arles, St. Remy, as well as the great town of L%26#39;Isle -sur-la-Sorgue, which houses loads of antique shops, and has a great fair on Sunday%26#39;s of about 300 antique dealers. To the south, you may even visit some of the great vineyards of southern France. Whatever,or wherever, Enjoy!
