What to do on cote d'azure?

Hi

Am staying on Douce Quietude keycamp site near Frejus, first 2 weeks in July with 4 kids - 18,16,12 and 10. Can anyone recommend things to do? We are not into amusement type things or culture in a big way but like outdoor life scenery and castles!. We normally walk in Switzerland so this is a real change for us as we want a bit more heat this year. We will have a car and don%26#39;t mind travelling one to two hours distance. Any good beaches for swimming? and anything we must miss!. Many thanks in advance for help

Joanie

Hello and welcome to the forum.

You might want to have a look at The Grand Canyon de Verdon. From the end near Lac de Ste Croix you can hire canoes, pedloes or electric boats to explore the gorge.

Lac de Ste Cassien is a natural unspoilt lake where you can hike or hire rowing boats.

There are caves at St Cezaire and the Souterroscope de la Baume Obscure.

There is a ruined castle in Grimaud which could be combined with a visit to the Monastere de la Verne high in the forest and Maures hills.

Hope that gives you some ideas to start googling.

Hi,

Douce Q is a really nice and well cared for site. The beach at Agay is really nice as is St Raphael. As mentioned the Gorge du Verdon is superb as are the villages of Moustiers Ste Maries at the top of the lce de Ste Croix also try Aups, they have a nice traditional provencal market on saturday mornings. There is also a really good market at Lorgues which is a very old provencal village on a tuesday morning. You have the usual populay places like St Tropez, Cannes, Nice, Monaco and Monte Carlo. You could go just inland to see the lavender fields which are spectacular and you should see it at it%26#39;s best at the start of your holiday.

Lastly you could try Italy - San Remo for the day and get some Italian goodies.

Have a grat holiday.

When you come to the Verdon Canyon, don%26#39;t miss the Crest Road, starting and finishing, on 23 kms, in la Palud sur Verdon.

Maybe one of the most beautiful roads in the world!!
