Just wanted everyone to know that VINCI, the company restoring the Hall of Mirrors, issued a press release yesterday stating that the International Scientific Council gave it%26#39;s unanimous approval of the restoration. It did that when it met for its (Yaaahhooooo!!!!) FINAL time, as the project is only TWO MONTHS from completion. They have to put a little varnish here and there, some microcrystaline stuff on the marble to %26quot;restore it to its original lustre%26quot;, and then they%26#39;re DONE!!!!!!
So...three years and €12million later, we%26#39;ll all fianlly get to see the Gallerie as it was to have looked when it was first completed a little over 300 years ago.
I can%26#39;t wait!!!

For those interested in following the progress in the restoration project, here is an interesting link to the dedicated website : www.vinci.com/sponsorship
I read they should start bringing down the scaffolding this month.

ArrowCarpet my wife and myself will be in Paris March 2 to the 9th and we are staying at the Hotel Agora St. Germain. Any tips on where to eat for less than a small fortune would be a great help, also the best way to get to our hotel from the airport but not spending all my vacation money on the trip would be great also. Plan on doing the main tourist sites and some shopping.
Thanks for all your help

Okay. So the mirrors are up.
Did the trees make it through the latest tempests okay? Or did they get ripped out again like a few years ago.

I am glad to see this is being done. I was very disappointed when I visited there in 2000. The gardens were magnificent but I was very disappointed with the interior of the palace. I can remember studying the treaty when I was in schooland remember thinking that is something I would like to see.
I may have to change my plans and go back.
It says two months, that would be mid-April correct?
Keep us updated.
